Success story Vocento
Identified needs
The Vocento company requires a platform that guarantees the Government and Data Quality and that allows them to know the origin of the data in order to have end-to-end traceability.
This requires a roadmap that includes the gradual implementation of use cases, so the platform must be flexible, scalable, and configurable.
The identified needs relate to the following aspects:
- Administrative duties: all tasks related to information management.
- Business glossary
- Data catalogue
- Organisational units, roles, accesses, and workflows
- Operational functions: all tasks related to the daily operation of information.
- Definition and development of security/privacy
- Definition and development of business rules
- Definition and development of quality rules
- Data traceability and identification
- Generation of workflows for change request processes
- Executive functions: all aspects related to the visualisation and presentation of information.
- Integration of information
- Quality monitors
- Quality remediation
Use case
For the first use case that meets the identified needs, it is necessary to govern a scorecard from daily operations at Vocento (user registration, subscribers, sign-ups/unsubscriptions, newsletters, etc.) and a scorecard from “cover closure”, with real-time information from the front pages of each newspaper. In addition to the dashboards, all related data assets (objects) will be managed with the aim of testing the functionalities and capabilities of Anjana Data and Omma Data (data quality engine integrated into Anjana), their flexibility and suitability for Vocento's needs. This also provides a complete trace of the data lifecycle, from its generation at the source to its consumption in dashboards and other useful business tools, through the various data transformation processes in the different systems.
It is important to note that in order to implement this use case in Anjana Data, it has been necessary to define and configure global and cross-cutting aspects such as different entities, organisational hierarchies, roles, permissions, and approval flows.
In terms of quality implementation, a structure has been defined for the execution of historical data, daily data, and checks between information loads. The results of these executions are automatically integrated into Anjana Data for monitoring.
The tables from Hive (storage system) are tables developed by the Data Science team, so the data sources have been added and the development documentation has also been included.
Change request processes have also been created so that business users (information consumers) can request modifications to the dashboards (structure, dimensions, indicators, etc.).
Therefore, in addition to standard entities such as Business Terms, Datasets, Solutions, Instances, Processes, Quality Rules, and Data Sharing Agreements, a series of specific non-native entities have been defined and implemented in Anjana Data that cover all aspects necessary for the implementation of the use case:
- Modification Request
- Supporting Document
- Source Origin
- Analytical Visualisation Data
- Analytical Visualisation Process
- Measurement and Metrics (KPI)
- Incidence
- Data Visualisation
Objectives set
The use case selected and developed at Anjana Data aims to provide Vocento with a platform that allows:
- Implement the necessary government policies and quality standards.
- Identify the data sources used in the transformation processes.
- Identify the movement of this data to the DataHub (data centralisation) for processing and consumption.
- Ensure the democratisation and federation of data at Vocento.
- Define roles and responsibilities, providing them with the necessary tools and functionalities to carry out the actions that enable them to fulfil those responsibilities.
- Map out the governed data lifecycle with the Anjana Data platform, enabling metrics and indicators to be obtained for subsequent iterations and use cases based on the proposed governance models and metamodel.
- Equip the system with data quality measures and remediation plans with the help of Omma Data and its integration into Anjana Data.
Functional and technical architecture

Benefits obtained
- Once the objectives set out in the Anjana Data platform have been achieved, benefits such as the following are obtained: Centralising the definition and agile execution of data access policies and procedures.
- Fully customise the governance model where technical data assets, business assets and the relationship between them are catalogued, enabling you to trace the lineage from production to consumption.
- Have a single view of all information in an orderly manner for processing and consumption.
- Communicate the different Vocento systems and exchange information in a controlled manner thanks to centralised management. Vocento data is made available to all types of profiles, both technical and business, allowing users to access information in a much more accessible and less technical way.
- Provide different roles with different capabilities for querying, modifying, and accessing information.
- Have a proactive and preventive government through functionality that allows monitoring with graphs the relationships of all available entities to manage impacts in the event of structural changes, so that it is possible to see and analyse how data flows and behaves between different types of entities and the transformations they undergo.
- Control access to data through a Data Marketplace. By signing data contracts, it is possible to join entities and execute access flows to the underlying information as if it were a “shopping cart”.
- Have a data quality rule enforcement engine integrated into Anjana Data and the Vocento ecosystem, so that the quality of the information being shared is monitored and guaranteed.
Challenges overcome
Both technological and functional challenges have been overcome. Some of the most important ones are:
- Create a common environment for the coordinated deployment of Anjana Data and Omma Data on an existing architecture with high technological complexity.
- Fully cover the requirements set out in the use case. Some of these have involved customised developments.
- Establish basic rules and operating procedures to begin governing information.
- Identify and understand data quality at all times.
- Provide business users with a procedure and mechanism that centralises all requests for changes to dashboards.
- Generating a data culture: Anjana Data has helped Vocento to drive forward the defined governance initiatives. The business units have begun to work with the platform, considering it a key and user-friendly tool for better understanding the information used by the organisation, as technical and business concepts have been aligned and linked, seeking a common language for all.
