Last Wednesday, 22 April, at 6:00 p.m. (Spanish time), our webinar took place. Current challenges for data governance to become data-driven with Mario de Francisco, CEO of Anjana Data.

In this first webinar in our series, “The DATA-DRIVEN webinar series”We discussed the current challenges an organisation must face in order to become a data-driven company. Here are some of the main points:

  • What does it mean to be data-driven? A data-driven organisation is one that understands data as a strategic asset and bases its decisions on data analysis and interpretation.
      • We begin with “foolishness” when making decisions, and from the moment data is incorporated into management, we will grow on the value scale until we achieve “wisdom” that will allow us to make better decisions.
      • There is a new paradigm. known as the fourth industrial revolution, which places data at the centre of all emerging technologies.
      • Data is classified as an economic asset, giving it greater importance for organisations and for the world.
      • The vast majority of problems stem from people because there is no data culture within organisations.
  • Data governance. From “what” to “how” Regulations dealing with data indicate what needs to be controlled and anonymised, but they do not indicate how to do so. How can this be achieved?.
      • Perform a assessment in order to then lay the necessary foundations for launching a transformational programme of data governance.
      • The “how” must start with short-, medium- and long-term objectives.
      • Data governance must be led by business but aligned with technology.
      • The model of government must be effective and efficient.
      • An incremental and iterative approach based on use cases is important.
  • New objectives, new challenges. Turn data into a strategic asset.
      • Data governance is something that must be extended to everyone in an organisation, from developers to business users.
      • Relying on employee training and talent to spread a data culture throughout the organisation.
      • Adapt our data governance with a new vision to a current value-added architecture.
      • More traditional market solutions do not add as much value to the business.

Mario de Francisco also mentioned the Anjana Data's vision In light of the current technological landscape, he explained his focus on the “how” rather than the “what.” He mentioned some of the main points of the proposal that the solution offers as added value.
